Clifden House | Corofin, Co. Clare
Shaun Cronin
On the shores of Lough Inchiquin
Clifden House is an early Georgian mansion standing at the foot of a wooded hill on the shores of Lough Inchiquin. This lovely house was surprisingly abandoned for many years, it is now being slowly coaxed back into use with some compromises toward the 20th century; some parts of the house being as elegant as a 5 star hotel but others would still make a good setting for a Dickensian novel. There are 4 luxurious en-suite rooms. The location is stunning with lovely views and the house is very quiet and friendly. They are open all year except Christmas. It is possible to get dinner which is at 8.00 pm, but reservations are required by by noon. French spoken. Unfortunately they cannot allow dogs please.
