Acushla Lodge is a large cedarwood lodge set in the hills of Connemara, surrounded by rhododendrons and heather this very private property stands in an acre and half.
The lodge sleeps eight in four spacious panelled bedrooms, two doubles (one of them is en suite) (11kb) and two twins. and has all modern facilities. There is a lot of antique furniture in the property which belonged to the late Lord Mountbatten whose private physician originally built it.
There is a open fire in the very large spacious sitting room area (8kb)with a three piece suite, TV and Video. The dining area has a large oak table with seating for eight people. There are two bathrooms with showers and three WC's. In the very well equipped kitchen area there is a cooker with four burners, oven, grill, washing machine, tumble dryer, fridge, separate freezer, dish-washer, toaster, and all the pots, pans, cutlery, plates, cups, glasses etc. All you wish for for large families !
- Bed linen and towels etc are included.
- There is a de-humidifier with a telephone if required (with deposit)
- Free Oil fired central heating to all rooms and an electric slot-meter which takes one pound coins.
- A caretaker is at hand should the need arise
Activities : Overlooking Killary harbour, Ireland's biggest fjord to the Atlantic ocean, the nearby Eriff and Delphi rivers supply Salmon and Trout fishing. There is good fishing to be found in the many abundant nearby lakes and Sea fishing is popular during summer. There is hill walking and are many championship Golf courses nearby with many private beaches within a few minutes drive.
Leenane is often referred to as the "Gateway to Connemara", the film "The Field" was filmed there.
